What is Block Printing?
Block printing is an ancient technique that begun around the 12th century. The process of block printing has changed over time, and sadly in recent years has become redundant due to the increased demand for fast fashion and graphic printing.
Block printing is such an incredible technique, where artisans carve a design out of wood, and then essentially stamp the wood block into dye and then onto a blank canvas.
Our designs have been carefully drawn, replicated graphically, and then carved into a wood block.
In using this unique method for our quilt patterns, we are enabling the artisans to keep their culture and art alive, and for future generations to learn and maintain the need for this art.
